What to know
Ask the organization requesting your fingerprints which application, card type, and submission method it requires. For an Arizona DPS fingerprint clearance card, confirm IVP or Non-IVP and the correct statutory reason before applying. Bring valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID and the current DPS reference number, packet, affidavit, or return materials for your chosen paper route. Security guard registration fingerprints follow a separate licensing process.
A fingerprint scanner can produce a paper card; that is different from transmitting fingerprints electronically. If your DPS clearance-card application uses electronic fingerprints, follow the Fieldprint instructions in your PSP Message Center. For the differences, required paperwork, and who submits each packet, read our paper vs. electronic fingerprinting guide for Arizona.
