The short answer
The current program name is AVIRT: Active Violence Immediate Response Training. HSI announced that its former AVERT program—Active Violence Emergency Response Training—would become AVIRT effective August 27, 2025. As verified July 19, 2026, Arrow’s emergency-response page heading uses AVIRT and the correct expansion, but two later body passages still say “Active Violence Emergency Response Training.” Those residual references are outdated and should be corrected.
What to know
Older PDFs, links, image filenames, testimonials, or third-party pages may still say AVERT because that was the program’s prior name. That history should be explained once rather than using both names interchangeably. A useful editorial formulation is: “AVIRT, formerly AVERT.” After the first reference, use AVIRT consistently.
Before publication, Arrow should update page titles, body copy, structured data, image alt text, downloadable materials, registration pages, internal links, and course certificates it controls. Do not alter HSI-issued historical documents or represent an old certificate as newly branded. Arrow should also confirm that its instructor authorization and course materials are current under the AVIRT program. Consistent naming helps users verify the course and prevents confusing two separate offerings.
