7. Alert verification and response
A complete workflow might include detection, automated alert, human review, client notification, officer dispatch, or a 911 call. But no step should be implied unless it is contracted.
Document the following:
- What creates an alert?
- Who receives it and during what hours?
- How is activity verified?
- Which observed conditions warrant a client call, patrol response, on-site response, or 911?
- What if the primary contact does not answer?
- What are the responder’s permitted duties and safety limits?
- How are the event, calls, arrival, observations, and outcome documented?
- Who reviews repeated false alerts or missed activity?
A monitor should report observable facts rather than make unsupported claims that a person is committing a crime. Life-safety emergencies should be handled under the approved emergency procedure, not improvised from a video feed.
